Dear Parishioners and Religious Education Families,
We would like to share that an in-principle agreement has been reached to address 1,353 childhood sexual abuse claims filed against the Archdiocese following the implementation of California Assembly Bill 218.
We encourage you to read the Archbishop's Letter and review the related materials regarding the settlement (see AB 218 Website Portal for QR code or links below.)
As noted by the Archbishop, thanks to various reforms, new instances of sexual misconduct are now uncommon within the Archdiocese, and no individuals found to have harmed a minor are currently serving in ministry. Additionally, designated donations to parishes, schools, or archdiocesan-wide collections and campaigns like Together in Mission and Called to Renew will not be used to fund this settlement.
As we move forward, we keep in our prayers all those have suffered and we remain committed to maintaining safe environments in our parish and religious education school. Thank you for your continued support and vigilance in nurturing a community grounded in care and respect.
