Dear Friends in Christ,
In 1949, when a handful of generous families sacrificed to establish Annunciation Church, they also blessed us with a legacy to build upon and celebrate. Today, we continue to benefit from this effort, grateful for the vision that those parishioners saw to fruition nearly 75 years ago.
Through God’s grace, we have grown from a small faith community into a welcoming Annunciation parish family. We have created a vibrant, active, diverse, and dynamic place for people of all ages to grow in their faith, serve others, and share the Good News as they connect with Christ, one another, and those in need.
To those who are observant, there are several areas of our property that need significant repair, in addition to the continual upkeep and maintenance of an aging infrastructure such as ours. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles also recognizes that these needs exist across virtually every single parish and school. To that end, they launched Called to Renew, a five-year campaign across the entire Archdiocese and asked God to bless this ambitious effort. The campaign will allow us to address our needs here at Annunciation Church, thus ensuring future generations of parishioners will have the ability to gather, worship, and create lasting friendships.
The goal for our campaign is $755,000 of which $377,500 (50 percent) will remain at our parish to address the needs detailed on the following page. We will also retain 100 percent of the funds we collect over our goal.
Now is the time to look back and reflect gratefully on what others before us were able to do so that we might worship as we do today. We are challenged to look forward and create the vision of what we want to leave for those who will follow us.
I ask that you take the time to prayerfully consider the generosity God has shown you and the importance of the mission we have been given at Annunciation Church, then decide how you can contribute to its success. I am asking you, and every member of our parish, to make a significant sacrificial gift from the heart. As your pastor and fellow parishioner, I too, will also make a pledge. The best way to accomplish this is to make a five-year pledge that will cement your commitment to today’s parish life, but will also demonstrate your understanding of the need to ensure that Annunciation Church remains a loving and vibrant presence for future generations.
Thank you in advance for your faithful support.
Peace in Christ,
Rev. Freddie Chua
During Mass, we celebrate the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Sometimes it is difficult to hear either part of the Mass due to the outdated and inferior quality of our sound system. We will update or install new audio equipment to improve the quality of sound during Mass. The microphones on the altar, sanctuary, and music area will also be updated. In addition, video projection will be added to enhance our worship experience and minimize the use of printed materials.
The electrical and lighting system in our church and hall needs to be upgraded to code. We will upgrade the electrical panels that can handle all our technical systems. We also plan to upgrade our lighting to LED lights and/or other environmentally friendly, and efficient, light fixtures.
The church and parish hall restrooms have an aging plumbing system and in great need of repair and updating. On Sundays, and when there are large crowds gathered during Christmas, Easter, weddings, funerals and confirmation liturgies, it is very inconvenient when the facilities are not presentable. We would like to address these needs by making necessary repairs and upgrades to keep our restrooms in good condition.
