This past Monday, California Governor Gavin Newsom reissued the order for the closure of indoor worship services for all churches in Los Angeles County, including 30 other California counties that have seen a rise in the number of COVID-19 cases.
Subsequently, Archbishop Gomez also issued a new guidelines for the Celebration of Masses and the Sacraments for the parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Those guidelines indicate that these liturgies (Masses, Confessions, Weddings and Funerals, etc.) may only take place outdoors. The guidelines also states and requires people to wear masks, must be socially distanced (at least six feet apart), and as needed in their specific liturgical functions, have their hands sanitized. The Parish Priests & Staff, together with the Pastoral Council members are planning and preparing to offer outdoor Mass celebrations starting the weekend of July 25/26. There are a number of logistic issues to consider and ironed out such as location, parking, audio broadcast, procedures for communion, etc. We will posts the details as soon as possible.
Also, we have resumed Online celebration of masses on our three digital platforms: YouTube (Annunciation Catholic Church Arcadia), Facebook (Annunciation Catholic Church) & www. annunciationchurch.net. Weekday online mass will be Monday to Friday at 10:00 am, and on Sunday, 10 am in English & 12 pm in Spanish. Remember, the Archbishop has continued to dispense all Catholics in the Los Angeles Archdiocese from the obligation to attend Sunday Masses. This schedule will continue until further notice.Let us continue to pray and support one another and keep faith that God is with us in this unusual time. Include in your prayers the individuals who are affected with the Covid-19 virus, the family and medical professionals that care for them and for those who have died due to this disease.
Assuring you of the support of my prayers for you and your families, I remain,Sincerely yours in Christ,
