Family Fun Fest 2017

  • From the Pastor's desk:

Last November, our Youth Ministry presented their 3rd Annual Family Fun Fest.  All of the months of planning, decision-making and organizing came together in a day filled with fun, food and fellowship.

The support we received from our parishioners who attended was nothing less than spectacular.  We can only hope that you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did in serving you – it sure looked like you did!  Seeing the smiles on all of your faces let us know that all of the work was well worth the effort, indeed!

While your participation in our day was a huge reason for our success, our gratitude for the support and donations we received from so many cannot be minimized.  While our generous vendors and friends are listed in this program, we want to make special mention of them, for without their assistance, which greatly controlled our costs, our bottom line would not have been so “healthy”!

We thank most sincerely the generous hearts who gave so unselfishly of their time and talent to help ensure our success that day.  As the saying goes, “It takes a village” and our “village” was certainly out in force that day!  Our Youth Ministry members were also visible reminders of just how infectious great energy can be!  They inspired us all to have fun, enjoy ourselves, dance a little and appreciate great food!

Again, we thank you for coming to support our Youth and the event to which they had dedicated so much time and effort.  It was a grand day that fostered community spirit and love for each other – that’s clearly the definition of “Success”!

    In Christ,
    Rev. Eugene Herbert
  • History of Family Fun

The idea for the Family Fun Fest came to us one day during Youth Ministry when the late Steve Hunt, a dear friend of ours, came in and said he had an idea for us on how to raise money. He said that we should put on a little fiesta because no one else was going to do it. Unbeknownst to us at the time, this idea would later become our first Family Fun Fest. With Steve's help, a few select members of our ministry did a presentation in front of the Annunciation Financial Council and asked for their support in funding our little project. The selected members of our ministry explained what Youth Ministry meant to them, and full support for our little fiesta from the financial council was received. We had explained that we are the future of the church; but someone else had made the compelling argument that we are not just the future, we are the present. The First Family Fun Fest in 2014 was successful enough for us to decide to do a second one. Unfortunately, before we could put on our second Family Fun Fest, Steve Hunt passed on. To thank him for all that he had done for us in helping us find a voice and getting us on our feet, we decided to honor him and dedicate the Fun Fest to him. To do so, we designed a tree with our fingerprints as leaves and gifted it to his wife. That tree (to the left) would not only become our Fun Fest logo, it would also become our Youth Ministry logo. Without Steve, we would not be where we are today, and for that we are eternally grateful.
