Music is a powerful form of prayer-and an ancient one, taking us back to our very roots.
Liturgical music has the ability to elicit a profound response and enable us to enter more fully into communal prayer. Jubilant melodies, intricate harmonies, or the solemnity of chant, allow expression of feeling that transcends the ordinary; with the capacity to move us into another place where God reaches us in the beauty of creation.
Music Ministry is leading our assemblies in “sung prayer”. Every hymn or song selection is in support of the action taking place in the liturgy, and has its foundation in the Scripture readings. It is in supporting the song of each assembly, we then serve our entire community.
The Ministry also serves as outreach to our entire parish family with the annual “Carols for the Homebound” bringing the music and joy of Christmas to those parishioners who are homebound or hospitalized.
Is the Lord calling you to use the musical talents He has given to serve your Annuciation Parish family? Please prayerfully consider if you are willingly to give several hours a week in this ministry.
The 10:30 Mass group is inviting all singers and instrumentalists, especially our young people, to join us on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm to 8pm in the music room. Come and see how you may help spread the “Good News” through the gift of music.
